Personal Construct Counselling...
Personal Construct Therapy comes under the Constructivist umbrella of Psychotherapies along with Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). It addresses how we create meaning in our lives and can be practised in a cognitive style, using reportory grid techniques, or in a narrative style similar to other talking therapies.
Reasons which often prompt people to seek Personal Construct Counselling include:
• Low self-esteem
• Relationship difficulties
• Bereavement, loss and separation
• A desire to make sense of certain thoughts and feelings, particularly those which are uncomfortable or unwelcome.
• Trauma and crisis
• Search for meaning and direction in personal and work-related areas.
Personal Construct Psychology’s approach to elicitng meaning allows therapy to be undertaken in the short to medium term, rather than the long term that can be necessary with some other psychotherapeutic approaches.
