Tibetan Acupressure Head Massage...
Tibetan Acupressure head massage has its roots in Ayurveda, the ancient, holistic system of Indian Medicine, although the Tibetan interpretation of the Ayurvedic medicine system differs slightly from that of the Indian interpretation. This treatment is unique synergistic fusion of traditional Tibetan Massage and some rather more modern Western bodywork techniques. It is a gentle, relaxing and EXTREMELY calming treatment performed on the shoulders, neck, head and face. Unlike IHM, which is performed with the recipient in a seated position, TAHM is performed with the client lying on the treatment couch. Much of the treatment focus incorporates varying pressure or Bon points which are worked repetitively in a slow and circular fashion. Through such application of technique the treatment has a profound effect upon the central nervous system through inducing a deep state of relaxation and balancing the energies of the body. Thus providing invaluable distressing, maintenance and preventative health benefits for the whole body as well as supporting and encouraging the body’s own natural ability to heal itself. Base oils, herbal oils and aromatics may be incorporated into the treatment to further enhance the therapeutic potency of TAHM, although the treatment may be performed with or without the use of oils. If desired additional oils may also be applied to the hair (at an additional cost) as a deep, enriching and conditioning treatment for the scalp and hair. Combining a hair oiling treatment with a TAHM session further enhances therapeutic potency, is great for all scalp conditions and the general health and vitality of the hair. Oils are chosen and blended according to the individual’s energetic terrain and the desired therapeutic effect. It is advised that oils are left on the scalp and hair for a minimum of four hours or preferably overnight before being washed out. Therefore it is advisable to bring a headscarf or hat with you to a TAHM appointment to occlude the area and aid absorption.
