Is the Birth Art Kit for you?

Pregnancy is a time of great change on the physical, emotional and spiritual level. In our left-brained
society of logic, thinking, careers and being-in control, becoming pregnant may leave women with unexpected feelings such as shock, isolation, anxiety and confusion. Connecting with all feelings through creativity can help to give clarity, understanding of yourself and connection to your inner wisdom.

Witnessing and learning from the process of making the art is what counts,
not the end result.

If you agree with any the statements below, you can benefit from using the kit.

I know nothing about art.
I am so busy I haven't had time to think about the birth/ baby.
I'm worried about giving birth/ being a good mother.
I had a diffucult birth and don't know if I can do it again.
I feel guilty/ failure I didn't have the birth I wanted.

How to Order a Birth Art Kit

Personal Experiences

"Art can seem like the last thing you have time for when trying to keep up at work and prepare yourself and your home for the arrival of a baby - not to mention once the little one has arrived. But taking that time on a regular basis to tune in with myself, to find out how I am feeling physically and emotionally has been such a gift, and enabled me to come away with a new perspective on a perceived problem or difficulty so many many times.  My art work has been
tranformed by allowing myself to make mistakes - and I'm trying to
remember that when presented with challenges in real life!" - Lindsay Grey

"It has been deeply therapeutic and a really useful tool to process all the emotions that have been coming up throughout my pregnancy. Birth Art is a really enjoyable way of expressing and connecting to oneself." - Roma Norriss

What the Experts Say

“...Creative activities can be of special help to any woman who has had a traumatic birth experience or who is anxious about birth” - Sheila Kitzinger

“Taking the time to connect more deeply with our selves which is perhaps best done by art and crafts that any woman can do, can only help us have a better birth, connect more deeply with our babies and be happier and more easeful mothers. Bravo Tamara for leading the way” - Suzanne Arms - Internationally acclaimed author, photojournalist, visionary and birth activist

“I just wanted to drop you a note to say thank you for this sacred and noble work!!  In all of my years studying the pre- and perinatal periods, including the socio-cultural and psychological facets of labor & birth... it NEVER occured to me that the experience a woman has facing "the blank canvas" or "lump of clay"... the process she goes through as she (hopefully) engages with her own intuitive impulses and connects with that deep well of creativity... could mirror her experience of facing the process of labor & birth! … It seems like such a simple idea, to do art around the intense psychic material of pregnancy and birth anticipation... and yet DO we encourage, support and facilitate it in our culture??  No!!  So thank you so very very much for your work .” - Marcy Axness, Early Development Counsellor specialising in Fertility, Adoption, & Early Parenting)

"As a reflexologist and healer working in the field of fertility and pregnancy I am so very thrilled with Tamara's Birth Art Kit, as it fills a gap that has been glaring at me for years, which obliged me to do a lot of talking in my sessions to try and make up for it...From now on I will recommend the Birth Art Kit (and the Birth Art Cafe) to my clients, as an essential complement to their sessions with me. For modern women the first pregnancy especially represents an extraordinary opportunity to learn so much, widen horizons and reconnect with deep feminine wisdom.  I feel these cards will say it all and more, in a most beautiful and sensitive way. The Kit is a safe and enjoyable way to learn and just be with the unfolding miracle and challenges of pregnancy.
Therapeutically speaking, I believe "doing" art and crafts in pregnancy calms the over active modern adrenals right down and fosters a better hormonal balance and invisible communion with the developing child.    Enjoy simply reading them, as you can keep them in your handbag, or choosing a card and setting out with your special project, alone or with another pregnant friend..."
Sophia Smith, Maternity Reflexologist, Active Birth Centre Clinic (London) and Eaux Vives (Berkhamsted).
