“The Birth Art Café is a really good idea and good luck with it… Creative activities of these kinds will be of special help to any woman who has had a traumatic birth experience or who is anxious about birth” - Sheila Kitzinger

An entirely new concept in enriching your experience of preparing for childbirth and motherhood
- Weekly gathering of pregnant women/ new mums
- Still space in our society's chaos and time to reflect
- Paint, draw & sculpt or just chat (no pressure!)
- Coffee & croissants or fruit and herb teas
- Have fun!
Is the Birth Art Cafe for you?
I know nothing about art.
I am so busy I haven't had time to think about the birth/ baby.
I'm worried about giving birth/ being a good mother.
I had a diffucult birth and don't know if I can do it again.
I feel guilty/ failure I didn't have the birth I wanted.
If you agree with any of these statements, you can benefit from coming.
“The Birth Art Café is an idea whose time is long overdue. Taking the time to connect more deeply with our selves which is perhaps best done by art and crafts that any woman can do, can only help us have a better birth, connect more deeply with our babies and be happier and more easeful mothers. Bravo Tamara for leading the way” (Suzanne Arms - Internationally acclaimed author, photojournalist, visionary and birth activist)
Pregnant Women
Thursdays 10:00-12:00
Another way to prepare for childbirth and motherhood in an informal setting. Come once, occasionally or every week. Pay for 1 class or discount for 4 and come when you have time. These sessions can be taken in addition to or instead of any antenatal classes you are already doing.
An opportunity to explore pregnancy, birth & motherhood together. Women, traditionally, have turned to other women for advice and sustenance during pregnancy. You can take part in optional creative processes to stimulate the primitive (right) part of the brain that is active during labour and birth.
Once a month all are invited to bring shared lunch and meet a professional who is involved with supporting women in pregnancy, birth and motherhood eg complimentary therapists, doulas, midwives etc
New Mums
Thursdays 1:00-3:00
To do something for yourselves. For those who want, to help integrate the birth experience through creativity and explore issues facing new mums eg feeding, sleeping, crying, exhaustion...

“I also wanted to thank you for listening to me, I was really overwhelmed by all the feelings that just came pouring out (about the birth). I carried on writing things down when I came home and I was quite amazed by all the feelings that I had been suppressing.... I can work on them now that I have acknowledged them.” (After a difficult birth)
Birth Professionals
(midwives, doulas, antenatal, active birth & yoga teachers, therapists specialising in pregnancy & birth, breastfeeding counsellors)
An opportunity to explore your role in supporting women in birth as a birth professional through creativity. Explore your role . Nourish and replenish your energy at the Birth Cafe.
“As a doula, and a trained art historian your philosophy rings so true to me and I think what you provide to new mothers and pregnant women, in the form of your Cafe, is fantastic.” (HC – doula)
